October 29th saw the long awaited launch. After more than 4 years Blue Moonlight is back in the water. There is still along way to go in terms of her refurbishment but it's great to be on the water. I was concerned that after my efforts at draining the old diesel and changing the fuel filter the engine would not fire up. But she started at the second attempt. Unfortunately she was not sucking up cooling water and we had to be towed to our berth. We eventually tracked the problem down to the gear box cooling jacket. We cured it by disconnecting the short hose that goes from this jacket to the pump and then back flushing the dirt until it came out of the strainer. Messy but effective.
So here are some shots of Blue Moonlight being on the move, gracefully flying and lying at her berth.
