Spring/Summer 2005
Now the sailing season has at last arrived work has
slowed a little but there's always a minute to tinker.
The sanding and painting in the heads and hanging cupboard
is all but finished.
I can thoroughly recommend the use of Dulux SuperGrip
primer followed by trade Egg Shell White.
Relatively cheap and so far very effective, lets hope
it lasts!!
I've also installed and calibrated the tiller pilot.
REEFING...June 2005
Having had a rolling boom on my previous boat I knew
I would be unhappy with this arrangement on Blue Moonlight.
Blueys main already had two slab reefing points but
for some reason the full conversion had never been completed.
I have now added a track and 2 lines on the outer end
of the boom. Currently, inplace of rams horns, I have a large
snap shackle
attached to the eye that forms part of the goose neck
arrangement. The set up needs a bit of tuning and at this time
hasn't been used in anger!
My stay in the harbour for Trafalgar 200 gave me time
to finally start reliningthe forcabin.
So the carpet is in. Leaving the under deck area to
be battened and boarded and the main bulkhrad to be painted.
Self tailing winches!!!! Much easier for the single
hander!
See the front page for my newly fitted sprayhood. Supplied
by C&J marine the sprayhood is made to
there standard known measurements and is a perfect
fit. The front edge is fixed via a bolt rope and track affair.
This should give a good water tight fit. I did think
that the plastic track supplied lets down the
overall standard of the sprayhood.... just a little.
